19 Mar Fighting COVID-19 in our shops
Many of us tobacco shop owners are trying to stay open but also keep our staff and our customers safe during these times. Remember we are all in this together. We know the basics right? Staff and customers should be frequently washing hands and using hand sanitizer. No handshaking and if you are sick STAY HOME!
Here are some other tips for your shop to help keep everyone safe.
No more community cutters, take them away. Even if you have to hand out some cutters to customers. Cutters and lighters loaned to individuals should be sanitized after use.
High use areas should be cleaned frequently like door handles, ashtrays, and tables. Have a thorough cleaning routine after closing.
Limit access to the lounge -under 10 people at a time, and an hour time limit if you have a lot of customers who want to use your lounge. Customers should sit 4-6 feet apart from each other. Also limit access to the humidor and the touching of cigars.
Offer curbside pick up, for customers who do not feel comfortable coming inside. License and proof of age should be required.
Discontinue use of glassware and offer disposable cups.
If you have other good ideas please feel free to post them in the comment section below.
We are all looking forward to life returning to normal and maybe even a handshake or a hug.
We as a board are all here to discuss your concerns and help if we can. You are not alone. This is a time for ALL New York tobacconists to come together and work together as a united team.
