New York Bill Prohibiting Sale and Distribution of Flavored Tobacco Products

STOP THE FLAVOR BAN NOW! DON’T LET NEW YORK STATE TAKE YOUR FAVORITE FLAVOR PRODUCTS AWAY.

There is a new bill in the New York State Assembly #8808 and bill #6809 in the Senate that will prohibit the sale and distribution of flavored tobacco products and accessories.

Both bills define “characterizing flavor” as a “DISTINGUISHABLE TASTE OR AROMA, OTHER THAN THE TASTE OR AROMA OF TOBACCO, IMPARTED EITHER PRIOR TO OR DURING CONSUMPTION OF A TOBACCO PRODUCT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, TASTES OR AROMAS RELATING TO ANY FRUIT, CHOCOLATE, VANILLA, HONEY,CANDY, COCOA, DESSERT, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE, MINT, WINTERGREEN, HERB, SPICE, OR MENTHOL, OR ANY CONCEPT FLAVOR THAT IMPARTS A TASTE OR AROMA THAT IS DISTINGUISHABLE FROM TOBACCO FLAVOR BUT MAY NOT RELATE TO ANY PARTICULAR KNOWN FLAVOR”

This will lead to a board interpretation and could be an outright ban of tobacco products and accessories including cigars and pipe tobaccos. Below are links to both bills. One the right hand side of both pages you can say you do not support this bill and send a message to both the Assembly and the Senate.
